News - Communiqué from MCA-Benin Directors Workshop

The National Coordination of Benin Program for the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA-Benin) held its 3rd Directors' Retreat at Village Club Ahémé in Possotomé from February 17 through  20, 2010. Participants in this major meeting included  MCC Country Representation (i.e. Mrs. Lee Roussel, Randy WOOD and Cosme QUENUM),  Fiscal and Procurement Agents Officers, and MCA-Benin management  team.

The retreat mainly aimed to assess progress in the Programm implementation and to step to Program phase out process. For three days , participants evaluated achievements recorded over the the top 13 quarters of Program implementation and perspectives for the way forward.

The gathering enabled an assessment of the aggregate completion rate compared with Compact initial outcomes .  Actually, out of  the Compact's $ US 307,3 million, aggregate involvement rate is 67.23%  while  disbursemnet amounts to 32.08%.

A fast-fact evaluation of the various Program components stress out an overall delay in the launch of several activities.

Out of the workshop , steps and actions for fostering efficiency in the Program implementation were decided upon, and recommendations were made to all four Projects the Program  consists of and the cross-cutting Directions as well,  for a happy end of MCA-Benin activities.
